Sherry L. Lebeck, Ph.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist and pet owner. Over the last 18 years she has worked with a number of individuals who have lost a pet to illness or tragedy. She also knows first-hand what it is like to lose pets, and the emptiness that that loss leaves behind.
It takes a special person to let an animal into one's heart . . . I mean really let it in. Only a person who has experienced the pet-person bond would know what I mean. It's an experience that defies explanation -- it's just there in a look, a lick, and devotion. It's a knowing that exists between two beings.
Dr. Lebeck received her training at the University of California at Berkeley, California School of Professional Psychology (Alliant University) and the Professional School of Psychology.
Dr. Lebeck is the former Executive Director of the Friendship Foundation, an animal-assisted therapy program. She has conducted original research on the effects of animal-assisted therapy upon depression.
Dr. Lebeck specializes in post-tramatic stress and other mood disorders. For detailed information visit: www.healingwithdrlebeck.com
